I didn't think of this one other fact last night; but there are a handful of "hybrid" Smith guns by Hunter Arms using what Brophy called the "C" frame. These frames utilize "R" sized lockplates on an "FW" sized frame. Seems that Brophy listed 6 or 8 examples, at least one serial numbered piece was never assembled and shipped; and of those that were shipped, none was higher than a Trap Grade (this information from a failing memory, and I don't recall bore sizes). To date, I have yet to see an acutal example, nor do I know a single living human being who has ever seen a "C" frame gun.
