    One would be required to get a copy of the shipping ledger page to verify grade and options; but if this gun checks out, it would be a rare piece. You see, a customer could order his skeet grade in a standard configuration (as you describe), or decked out to his specifications. In this case, it looks like the original owner wanted a field gun with just a little engraving; and a skeet grade would be the least expensive option for an engraved gun. The old Kraus prepared Smith engraving in-house cost/price ledger I saw listed a cost of $1.35 to engrave a Skeet Grade Smith; although I have no idea what retail mark-up may have been above that cost.
