In the years following the fall of Wall Street many of the gun makers were in a very precarious position. Many were doing just about anything to please what customers they could get by offering options on guns that typically did not have that option offered prior to 1929. Basically, if you had the money and could pay for the option the maker would provide it for a price just for the extra cash and the business. With an L C Smith never say never because if and when you do, someone will come up with an example of one of these great old guns that will suprise us all. Hunter Arms dropped the Eagle Grade from their production line in 1932, and yet I have a Cody lettered 20 ga Swamp Rib Eagle grade that was made in 1934. This is a prime example for never saying never.
