Gentlemen, I am looking for some advice in my search for a Smith Field grade or 00. I am looking primarily for a shooter to take afield for both ducks and upland birds, as well as clays. There seem to be a plethora of guns in rather rough condition, but how rough is too rough? Does side side slop when open denote an unsafe gun or merely a worn action and if it closes tight, not to worry? Similarly, with the 00 production coincided with the phase out of black powder, many guns seem to have some pitting in the bore, how much if any of this is tolerable for safe shooting? Other questions include thoughts on steel shot and a ballpark value for said shooter grade 00 12 ga. Thanks Aaron
