It is possible that one or both of the springs are broken. I had a 16 ga ejector that the springs were weak, took the forend apart and one of the springs was broken. Luckily my hardware store had a great variety of springs and I was able to match one up in diameter and in the diameter of the wire. It was too long but I cut it down. The only difference is that the one I bought is plated and the originals are blued. I replaced them both, and naturally saved the old ones.
