Kevin, your grandfathers 16 ga. was made in 1907 and is the equivalent of a Field Grade now. The Armor steel was put on this grade and possibly might be the first year for Armor Steel. I know it is the first year for the 20 ga. and they only came with steel barrels not Damascus. As far a finding a complete forend, they show up on ebay now and then, or Gunbroker. You can still buy the wood from Numrich (gunparts.com) and some of the iron but not complete. Keep searching and in the meantime take care of it
