    First of all, welcome to the club. You will meet the nicest guys and get the answers you are looking for. If you gun is in the condition that you described I doubt that a restoration is needed. Possibly just a service check by a good double gun smith to check for any problems. You have to remember the few scratches & dings on your gun were put there by your Dad & Gran-dad and are just character marks or battle scars. These scratches tell you something about the the previous owners and deserve recognition. I say have it checked out but leave the character.It will mean alot more later on.
