Pigeon or not, this is the questionArchived Message

I have purchased a gun sight unseen from the Cabela's Ft. Worth store with a three day return option. Serial #210703 is on the receiver, barrel flats, trigger guard extension, and forearm metal. The initials PE are boldly stamped below the serial number on the left barrel flat. It has the Nitro Steel Trade Marks on the bottom of both barrels underneath the stamped numeral 1. There is an engraved standing Pigeon on the rib extension just behind the inlaid gold bar. There are engraved flaring pigeons on each side plate plus a lot of scroll work. I doubt that the bluing and case coloring are original. The case coloring continues around the trigger guard. The stock has a faint crack that runs from the rear of both lock plates up into the safety tang that can be seen if you look closely at the pictures posted on the Cabela's Ft. Worth Gun Library web site (it's the LC Smith marked as "sold"). My primary question: Was this gun originally manufactured as a Pigeon Grade or was it not? I just joined the LCSCA and my next investment will be the books. Thanks to Bob Trefry for all the help he has given even though he is in the middle of moving and his library is packed in boxes. Thanks again BOB!
