The FIRE ANTS have ended ALL wild quail hunting in Alabama. The fire ants eat the baby chicks as soon as they hatch. Somehow or other the fire ants just KNOW when a wild quail egg hatches. By the way, fire ants also eat a whole lot of other baby things if they get the chance to. Southern farmers have to be very careful about where their livestock drops their baby calves or all the farmer ends up with is a pile of baby cow bones after the fire ants are done. Every few years or so the farmers find an effective chemical to use against the ants and the next year the government bans that chemical for some trumped up reason. MOST ALL of the South American, Central American, and African countries still use DDT and other chemicals long ago prohibited for use in the USA. They do not allow insects to interfere with their farming and ranching operations. Did you see the new TV series COMANCHE MOON where one of the BAD GUYS says I do not raise foals for coyotes to eat ! , and that was a bad guy speaking. We should not be allowing fire ants and killer bees to interfere with our way of life and hunting and conservation of our wildlife. Jent
