    Firing Pin Problem Archived Message

Posted by John on December 29, 2007, 3:37 pm

I purchased a Field Grade L.C. Smith 1928 vintage. When I took it out and fired it for the first time the right barrel worked fine but the left would not fire. It looks to me like the left pin may be shorter. I thought the pins would come out toward the butt but they seemed tight and I didn't want to force them. Do you have to use a punch to drive them out? Do the bushings unscrew with a screwdriver or do you need a special tool? Could the bushing be the problem? Any help appreciated,
    Thanks
