I saw a used Springfield 1903 .30-06 recently. The manufacturer was Smith-Corona, the typewriter company. I was told that the Smith of Smith-Corona is LC Smith, and that during war time Smith-Corona would make rifles for the US DOD. Does anyone know of a source that could confirm or deny the above?
