John,Your beautiful poem brings back memories of the fall of 1964.I had bought my first L.C.under the recommendation from my dad that year.As we looked at the gun hanging on the used rack of a local gun store,I can still remember him saying, buy that one and it will last you a lifetime if you take care of it.I did and it has.I remember seeing those doves just fall out of the sky the first time out with that gun shooting shells that I had loaded myself. The cost back then to load a box of shells was about a dollar. That field grade FW 12 ga.cost me $125 dollars, but what bargain when I consider the many years of enjoyment it has brought me.Dad has gone on now nine years already but the memory's of him and the Manny hours that we spent shooting together will last a lifetime as well as that first L.C.Smith.Charlie.
