Jack, Put in a standard 2 3/4 inch shell and test fire it. If the rim depth is greater than it should be, the impression on the primer will be thin and possibly not fire at all. I am not too sure you can easily correct this condition without having some material added-on and then reamed to size. Would you dare use 3 inch shells in a Featherweight without a gunsmith checking the wall thickness of the barrels at the chambering? JS
