I'm sure many of you are tired of this question. I have my father's gun and am wondering when it was made. Serial #48736 O is stamped on the water table and under the barrel. 57 is stamped under the forearm. (Possibly not original?) According to the date search on this site, the gun was made in 1922. But it is also my understanding from this site that O grades were only made from 1895 through 1913. Also stamped on the water table is: pat. date Mar 29,83 ; July 13,86 ; Oct 5,86. Stamped under the left barrel is: SD G There is a symbol (infinity) between the D and the G. LC Smith is stamped on the side plates. There are no other marks.

I know records are incomplete but is it safe to assume this gun was made prior to 1913? Any thoughts? Thanks, Jim
