Robert, There is a great deal less stock inletting for the single barrel gun than the SxS because of not needing sideplate inletting. I have in my hand both types of fully inletted stocks with very good figuring but without final finishing for use in the future and, comparing them, I would guess that though intricate, it is a smoother and straight forward inletting for the single. Much depends on the gunsmith, wood cost, and final finish build-up. The barrels on the singles I have have browned barrels which I believe yours also had. If barrels are simply dull but otherwise o.k., I would not touch them. The case coloring if rather light, (but not worn completely) maybe you can skip the coloring also. I guess what I am driving to, is that you do as little as necessary to the gun to make it a good shooter. This will maybe enhanse the future value. jos
