Sam: Hunter Specials are very solid utility boxlock guns, probably a step up (because of the rotating bolt) from the Ithaca Lefever Nitro Specials. The Super-X 2 3/4 inch 3 3/4 dram 1 1/4 oz load (1330 fps) was introduced in 1922, but the standard 12g load per LC Smith hang tags in the 20s was 3 dram 1 1/4 oz at 1165 fps. High pressure and high recoil loads can't be good for the action and especially the wood, and I'd suggest limiting yourself to something like the Federal Game-Shok Heavy Field 1 1/8 oz 3 1/4 dram load which is available in 4s and 6s. Save the Wing Shok HV 1 1/4 at 1500 fps (!) and Fiocchi GP 1 3/8 oz at 1485 for your Benelli SBE
