Gentlemen. I have discussed the matter with Frank Finch and offered to take Russ Ruppel's place ( Syracuse hammer & hammerless guns) along side Daryl Hallquist who was concentrating on the Syracuse Baker hammer guns ( 3-barrel and 2-barrel). We have Russ' original data as of Sept. 2005, and are endeavoring to have his sons check his computer files to see if any additional information is available. If you have any of these guns, please send to the website or e-mail me at joh@outdrs.net. Include type(Baker 2 or 3 barrel, L.C.Smith hammer or hammerless),grade, serial number, barrel length, special features etc. You do not need to send your name if you don't want to. Pictures would be great either on the website or mailed to me John Houchins,13738 Kingsride Ln., Houston,Texas,77079. I have discussed with Jim Stubbendieck the possibility of setting up a committee to evaluate the guns and possible offer a Letter of Authenticity from the Collectors Association on a reproduction of a L.C.Smith Syracuse Letterhead. We need the membership to get behind these efforts and also help find as many of these guns as possible. Hopefully Yours, John Houchins
