If asked to describe the goals for our spring shoot this year “Striving to Improve” would summarize what is being planned.
Our spring shoot has steadily grown in participation and types of targets thrown each year. This year our event will be held at the Carlisle Fish and Game Association located at 1421 West Trindle Road, PO Box 157, Carlisle, PA 17015. This location is on Route 641 about midway between Carlisle and Mechanicsburg, PA. The entrance is well marked on the south side of Route 641.
The Carlisle Club has much to offer any shooter and especially our LC Smith group. The Sporting Clays course is very diverse with some shots in wooded areas and some in open fields. It is not a long course, which makes it very walk able for some of us older folks. There are two Skeet Ranges close to the club house and parking lot. The Five Strand is excellent and is similar to the set up used during the Challenge Cup Shoot at the Southern Side by Side at Deep River.
The Five Strand is one of the main reasons that I selected this course over other venues for this year’s spring shoot. If you have several guns to try out, including your small gauge guns, this is an excellent place to do it. I expect that the Five Stand will be kept busy all day so bring plenty of shells. This will be a great place to improve your shooting skills by shooting and watching others shoot.
Lunch again this year will be catered by Grandpa’s Country Butcher Shop featuring many recipe variations of pulled pork with some down home style side dishes, all for a modest $10 per person.
We hope to have an LC Smith gun display this year for folks to look over during lunch to better help them digest their lunch. The display is something new added this year to our spring shoot event.
As you can see, every effort has been made for “Striving to Improve” this popular spring shoot. Now the next thing to improve is your participation. I hope to see even more of our fine folks and their guests this year. Keeping with tradition and the theme of the shoot, we ask that only LC Smith guns will be shot during this event.
