After careful review of all that useful information (thank you) I have decided to simply put a little elbow grease to the old gun. A little Hobbes #9 and fine 0000 steel wool has really brought some life cosmetically speaking. Much more than I would have thought. The only downside is that the few vice marks are no more pronounced. Secondly, the action in all the moving parts seems tight and well lubricated so I will be shooting shortly. Off course I am using extra little shells #8 1 1/8 oz shot 2.75 dram equivalent 1150 fps. I suspect that should be no problem for this gun. Thanks again for all the advice.
