We think the 'WR' indicates that the gun was ordered by William Read & Son, Boston; a major dealer.
I have not however found evidence that "Marks" was used by Read, nor have I found a "Marks" hardware or sporting goods firm.
Unfortunately, the Hunter Arms shipping records from that period, esp. for lower grade guns, often do not document the original purchaser. Lower grade guns were often purchased in large quantities by 'jobbers' to then be distributed to retail and mail order firms.
It would be worth requesting a Research Letter which might confirm shipment to Read
