I agree with Craig... If a gun is being sold (and priced) as a LR, and it won't letter, I would keep looking. This is where a LCSCA membership really comes in handy. A short email to Dr. Jim and you will have verification very quickly. Most collectors will value the letter more than the markings on the gun. I have seen a Field Grade that was marked LR but it was clearly not the correct factory stamp on the lug (and would not letter). To secure your investment, it's especially important on the lower grade guns where the LR option often seems to double the value (or at least asking price) of the gun.
