Thank you for the information. I have a Field Grade that letters but has no reinforced loop as well. All of the other common attributes such as "Chambers 3 Inches" and "LONGRANGE" is stamped on the barrel lug. The Ideal Grade letters as a LONGRANGE but is not stamped LONGRANGE on the barrel lug but has the reinforced loop and "Chambers 3 Inches". I have heard it said in the FORUM that, "never say never" when it comes to what configuration an L.C. Smith may have. My question as to which identifier; either the LONGRANGE stamping on the barrel lug or the letter that says the firearm is a LONGRANGE carries more weight. As I am interested in more of the hunting and shooting aspect for now it is not as important but if I were to eventually sell a particular firearm that would be another question.
