I recently bought an LC Smith sxs 12 gauge hammerless field grade at an auction. I won the bid at $225 (plus FFL fee) and it looks in great shape and shoots well. Beautiful wood and blued finish, with an orange/red decelerator butt pad.
Im aware of the cert letter from LC, but my personal searches on the serial number (352430R, stamped on receiver and forearm) date it to the 19-teens. Doesn’t seem right with condition of the gun. Also, the receiver is full blued, and matches the barrel. Is this a tell tale sign of a refinished gun? If someone did redo it they did an excellent job. The bluing is deep and not worn thru anywhere. Looks like the barrels are both IC based on stamping on bottom side.
I plan to upland bird hunt and trap shoot with it so if its a refinished gun Im ok with it. Am I deciphering the serial correctly?
Thank you all!
