Hunter Arms Co. stated they enclosed a "tool" with every shotgun sold. I don't know when this practice started or stopped, but I do know that the early ones were not meant for cocking the gun using the cocking arms. There was no hole in them for doing so.
The tool shown in the first picture is one I made from a drawing sent to me and I made it out of 1/4" copper just to have one. Now I prefer to use a 4" adjustable for cocking.
