LCS 2017 Post Christmas Shoot Turn Out
Posted by Jent P Mitchell III on December 29, 2017, 10:03 am, in reply to "Re: 2017 Post Christmas Shoot"
We had about 17 or 18 LCS SXS shooters show up at LHVSC for the LCS Christmas Shoot......It was a cold cold day......Several of us stayed at The Allenwood Motel the night before the shoot and when we woke up the morning of the shoot and walked outside to warm up our trucks we were greeted with calm winds, clear clear skies and +9 degrees F outside air temperature.....We went to the Trivet Diner for breakfast and then we drove up highway 309 to LHVSC for the shoot.....By 9:00 a.m. it had warmed up to something in the teens at LHVS.....But still no wind.....Praise the Lord......When we got half way through the sporting clays course at LHVSC we got to the warming hut with a gas heater and hot coffee.....All of the shooters took the opportunity to warm up and get some hot coffee or hot tea......After leaving the warming hut the sporting clays course takes the shooters out to a point between the deep water of the old quarry and up hill to the open field portion of the course.....By the time we got to the higher ground of the course in the open field the wind had kicked up to about 13 or 14 miles per hour and the OAT was about +22 degrees F......It was bitterly cold, we were glad to get off of the top of that hill.....Even with the cold weather we all had a good time and could blame our poor shooting on the cold weather and multiple layers of thick winter clothing.....After shooting we went to GRUMPYS Bar B Q for a late lunch and fellowship......All in all it was a great event....Happy New Year To You All, Jent
