Like the stock, the fore-end wood is original and shows a nasty square gash that goes through to the locking mechanism. I would assume that a similar color and grained piece of wood could be placed in there and then at time of refinishing be stained and rechequer to hide it?
Similarly, I’m assuming that a good gunsmith could replace the missing chips of wood from the ebony insert? Unless there is a way that I can do it myself?
Most importantly is the need to fix the spring within the fastener mechanism so that the fastener arm will pop-up automatically when disengaged from the barrel and action. Do any of you have a picture of that mechanism outside of the forend wood so I can see the spring and how it works?
