Forcing cone question
Posted by William Norton on October 12, 2017, 1:39 pm
I have read a lot about lengthening forcing cones, especially in vintage shotguns, and have entertained the idea of having my 1948 12 gauge Field cones lengthened. I read a statement from the Legend Lives book that states, "The forcing cones for all LC Smith shotguns and for all gauges were tapered 1 7/8" in 12 1/2" from the chamber to the bore".
What exactly does this mean? Sounds like the forcing cones are longer and have more taper than many of the newest shotguns produced today.
