I once had one of mine corrected by a shop that I will not name. It was not a good idea. I then took it to Kenneth Myers in New Oxford Pa who had to weld and reshape the end of the cocking lever to bring it nack to proper function. It works fine now, but is as originally designed. I would say getting used to a little help in opening is the best option.
