Thanks Fritz. The barrels on the 1897 are chain Damascus as are the ones on the 1903.
Kevin, as far as getting more for the straight stock, some people will pay more and some won't. I happen to like a straight stock.
Added value according to the Blue Book of Gun Values, would be a Hunter One Trigger, if the gun was worth more than $1500, add $500 for the Hunter One Trigger and add $500 for the ejectors. Less than $1500 add 1/3.
However, there are some out there that do not like the HOT trigger and will not pay extra for it, but many will.
