Acquired these from a gentleman here almost 5 months ago and finally cleaning them up.
12g 28” Armor Steel
SN 97511 (1926) 00
‘2’ on lug
SN stamped over ?4XXX (?1899) on barrel check disc
Hunter Arms Co. Makers, Fulton N.Y. on left barrel (pre-1913 appropriate)
Bore .730 and very clean
Right choke less than 1/2" and only .728
Left choke 1 1/2" and .722
Ivory mid- and front beads
Single-Sighting Plane Rib! (introduced 1939)
Rib matting does not extend to the end and barrels meet at muzzle
SO - somebody harvested a c. 1899 00 barrel for a second barrel to shoot skeet and had a SSP Rib installed? But the receiver had to have cut outs for the pin and disc barrel check so couldn't have been made in 1926; or were the cut outs milled so the 99' barrels could be used?
What to do?
1. I'd like to get the barrels returned to SN 97511
2. Remove the barrel check and add extension to the extractor and use on my 1906 00? Would that work? Numrich doesn't have any extractors. Anyone have one?
3. Sell them to someone with a pin and disc barrel check looking for a skeet/upland barrel?
The barrels were dropped at some point and have external cosmetic dings at the breech of the right barrel and muzzle of the left (which is still round however) and lots of superficial patina, and would likely need to be fitted.
Your thoughts?
