Hello Short Ten Bore Shooters and Reloaders, I have never had the 2 and 7/8 inch 10 bore reloads that I use pressure tested in a scientific method. I reload the brown FEDERAL 10 gauge hull with a PAPER base wad. I cut off these Federal 10 gauge hulls to 2 and 7/8 inch overall fired length for reloading for use in my damascus barreled Parkers and W C Scotts and many other 10 bores that my friends shoot. We have never had a problem shooting these 10 gauge reloads in any of the antique 10 gauges that we shot them in. In several old antique 10 gauges we did have to recut the chambers with a modern chamber die to put a slight taper in the chamber so that the fired shells would extract correctly. The old original chambers are STRAIGHT WALLED for use with a straight walled all metal shotshell case. These straight walled all metal shotshell cases are similar to a 45-70 rifle case. My reloads using a modern plastic hull with a metal head need to be fired in a modern chamber, a chamber that has a very slight taper. Cutting a modern FORCING CONE in your antique 10 bore SXS should also be considered. Pastor Charlie Brooks has a great deal of knowledge about recutting these antique chambers and forcing cones. Good Shooting To You, Jent
