Smith barrel blanks

Sirs; John Houchins in his book presents pages of circumstantial evidence that Hunter Arms used rough barrel blanks mfg'd by various Syracuse N.Y. steel mills. Monday I recieved my spring issue DGJ., upon reading the article on Specialty grade guns,I was suprised that Mr. Hunter testified most gun companies,including his,got thier barrels overseas.Can anyone shed light as to the accuracy of Mr. Houchins book or the veracity of Mr. Hunters testamony?
