Back when these guns were made, if you happened to see a butt plate you liked, Hunter Arms would put it on for you.
On some early guns and not seen often is one with two pointing dogs. I have seen more than one, and I own one a 2E.
Dutchman Wood Works makes a reproduction, L.C. Smith-2 dogs in medallion.
