A friend just brought me a 1905 LC Smith to clean up. 12ga. 30" F/F. All there in general but definitely used. 00 grade/model. One firing pin broken, the other has issues. Can't get one stiker plate keeper screw out. Has an interesting two-pc top tang that I don't see in anyones parts blowups and I can't figure out how the safety push rod works. He's wanting to make this gun shootable which I can certainly do if I can get firing pins and the springs, which it doesn't seem to have now.I see Numrich has firing pins but not sure they're correct? If I can get the decent one out for a pattern I can make new ones easily enough but I'd rather just put old ones in. Gun locks up very nicely and is very tight on face with no looseness even with the forearm off. I can see no reason to not shoot it. Barrels are lightly pitted but wall thickness looks fine and they ring like a bell. Needs a butt plate which I see Numrich has but if anyone has a parts gun we could get these parts from we'd go that way. I'm a Parker guy and this is my first LC to work on so will gladly take any and all advice offered by those who know way more than I. I have the gun dismantled and it is in very good condition inside; very little rust and all screws on plates tight and sears look good. Been shot plenty but has plenty of life left.
