Hunter arms LC Smith

I have a Hunter Arms Field Grade 12GA. S/N 2022XX. It has "US", "Armor Steel" and "USA" on the underside of the barrels. "LC Smith" on the lock side plates. Was made by Hunter Arms in Fulton NY. Is this a 1904 or 1943 Manufacture. If 1943 does the US mean for the Govt?
