Thanks guys. I ran across an early A1 for sale today, and had no snap caps to test the ejectors.

David - good thought on the clam shell release. Hard to tell what's going on without taking off the wood - the gun sports a beavertail with non-matching serial # iron.

Trying to get a feel for what it would cost to rectify the "issues" the gun has, and how reliable it would be after repairs.
