The best scenario for you would be that the old boy hasn't done anything yet. If he's used the wrong bluing method, and a torch to restore case-coloring, your gun could be all but worthless at this point. There are several alternatives as well for repairing vs replacing the stock that will leave the stock as good as or better than new. Find out what has actually been accomplished and report back here for further advice. We'll be happy to get you going in the right direction. If he has re-blued the barrels, have him describe exactly the process that he utilized. In any event, you'd be well advised to get the family heirloom back in your control.
