I have a question and I have searched the archives for an answwer, but unfortuantely, I am more confused that ever. Happens after a certain age. For Christmas I received, from my loving wife, a new Boyt canvas case to store my Elsie Specialty grade with two sets of barrels - you have seen the type - two sleeves for barrels and one for the receiver. A nice piece of luggage, by the way. My question is this - since I must break down the Elsie to put it into the case, should I find some A-Zoom snap caps and release the tension on the triggers (pull 'em) and then take the gun apart or should I make sure it is cocked and take the gun down without pulling the triggers? I live in Florida and I know all about canvas and other materials absorbing moisture but the gun is stored in my house which is always climate controlled - yes, we run our air conditioners in the winter in north Florida. I have a cocking tool from Walt Scheissel (SP) so I know I must recock to assemble and have done it several times when I had to. But what is the proper way to store it? I would think you would release the tension on the triggers - yes? When in the Boyt case, the gun may stay there for several months if that matters. Help a brother out!
