You asked 'who does those kinds of repairs that are miraculous? An acquaintenance of mine was the founder of one of the recognized New England based specialty gun shops, and he gave me a guided tour through his stock repairing facility. You may be surprised to know that his company uses 'bondo' to repair badly broken stocks. Bondo is a polyester resin product that when mixed with a hardener (an organic peroxide), or catalyst, turns into a putty which then sets and becomes rock-hard. The user can apply the mixed Bondo, sand it to the proper shape, and prime and paint it like the material around it.
