All I can tell you is that Pastor Charlie and Dewey are CONSTANTLY making new firing pins for these old L C Smiths, the tips get sheared off. Pastor Charlie and I have always got powder stained and greasy fingers after shooting these types of L C Smiths because we still find ourselves having to give the firing pins a push with our trigger finger to get the firing pin or pins to back up so that we can gently close the gun. When I start to close my L C Smith hammergun or hammerless with this system if I feel ANY resistance at all I stop and push the pins with my trigger finger. By pushing the shells all the way into the chamber, they kind of snap in, it makes closing the gun extra easy and if I need to get my finger in there to push the pins I have more room. There are little horse shoe shaped dimples cut in the EXTRACTORS that also help get the firing pins back up in most cases on these L C Smiths. Many ENGLISH made guns have little springs that pull the pins back to a safe postion in the frame. I have always wondered why L C Smith/Hunter Arms never did this. Another thing that I have to be very careful and watchful about is the hammer screw on the right hand hammer of my L C Smith hammergun. It wants to unscrew itself frequently. I let one get away and get lost while shooting recently and Dewey had to make me a new one. This one has a little locktite on it, maybe it will stay put. Good Shooting To You All, Jent --- jentpmitchell@msn.com
