It has been a few days since I checked this site and I am now in a state of shock.
My tribute to John is in the form of reconizing a true gentlemen who was always quick to say 'Thank you' for the smallest favor. While he was compiling his book he called me on the hunch that I had some pictures of Smith single barrel trap guns. When I volunteered them I thought he would never get off the phone with elequent statements of appreciation. After the books publication I jokingly admonished him for not showing a Monte Carlo stock. A round of joking apologies about old age creeping in and more polite apologies and apologies for a small over sight ensued. John had that knack of making you feel important over the smallest piece of minutia. I'll miss him.
