I met John a few years ago at the Southern Side X Side, and we struck up a conversation about, what else, L C Smiths. John had no idea who I was, except that I owned a few Smiths and was interested in collecting them. Right away we hit it off and I have enlarged my collection and expanded my knowledge and love of these old guns simply due to meeting Mr. John as I called him. All of us have had many a question answered either by a phone call or E-mail to Mr. John or simply by reading his fabulous book. In my copy of John's book He wrote 'To my good friend Skip Dunlap a great L C Smith Collector" In my book I will write "To my Good Friend John Houchins Gentleman,Statesman Husband,Father,Friend and Advisor,You will be sorely missed by all those you have touched. May God Bless.
