Mike, break the gun open and then try to take the forend off, being careful not to drop the barrels, do it on a rug. This should do it.
If you are talking roller release, then it is either an ejector gun or a higher than Field Grade gun. If it does have the roller release try it the same way by pushing the roller towards the muzzle and then try to pull the forend off. I don't know why there would be a screw there if not the banjo shaped escutcheon.
As far as the two screws in the end near the receiver, the older guns have fairly long screws and the newer ones are shorter.
Post some pictures of the forend where the top screw is.
