I've recently come by an old LC (that I never intend to fire) that was made in 1923, according to the chart. The barrel and forearm broke down normally the first time I tried it, but after reassembling the barrel I can't take it off again. I've referred to the photo sequence on this site, but it doesn't seem to matter whether the hammers are cocked or not, the barrels are just "stuck" even though the action opens and closes normally. I thought I better get some expert advice rather than forcing anything. Thanks in advance.
One other question: even though the externals of the gun appear to be original, there is a screw rather than a roller release on the forearm, and two wood screws have been installed through two holes in the receiver, by the hammers, that thread into the forearm wood. I don't see how this could be by design, because how would the forearm be removed (I guess I just stripped out the threads when I removed the forearm the first time)? I could attach a photo if this is too confusing. Again, thanks for any and all help.
