The National Championships is the most prestigious event in the United States for American Powerlifting. Why would anyone want to go to the world Championships if they are not good enough to compete against the best in the United States? In order to qualify for the GPC World Championships a lifter has to compete in the APC National Championships. If the lifter wins his category he will qualify for financial assistance. If he doesn't win he can go as an alternate.
