Hello to all APC Lifters
This years WUAP World Championships was held last weekend in Lauchhammer Germany. I know only a limited number of APC lifters attended, but those of us who did were treated to a fantastic event.
The town of Lauchhammer was a modest German village, nothing too flashy but still a comfortable place to be. The people were helpful and polite to all of us....even when we could not understand the language. We personally used taxi's for transportation and let me say it was a treat to experience. Polite, Clean and friendly.
The hotels were typical for Europe. Small clean rooms with nothing special. Not what we have come to expect from the USA but they were fine.
The contest was held in a sports complex. The building where the contest took place was wonderful. It was huge, open, and comfortable. Locker rooms and showers were available to the lifters. Plenty of restrooms for lifters and the spectators. Food service was provided which included many homemade German items and a fully stocked bar.
The equipment in the warm up area was spaced well and more than enough was there for all the lifters. Very limited wait to use anything. The contest platform was perfect. Thats all I can say. The platform crew was the same. The contest flowed perfect.
The judges were very strict, BUT even more than that they were VERY VERY FAIR. Not once did I see a lift judged different for any lifter. And believe me, I was looking for it.
The WUAP is a top notch organization. I have only began to tell you how much of a pleasure it was to lift in the contest. My only regret is that more Americans did not join us.
I met the hosts for next years worlds to be held in Saint Avold France. You will never find two more charming and polite people. Even more than that they are ready to put on a World Championships which will be special for all attending. I encourage all of you to attend the APC Nationals this year in Peoria Il. (modest plug there) and qualify for this trip to France.
