Well, it is a shame that the people who do own the rights to La Mafia's catalog are a bunch of thieves who don't know the value of good music.
"Enter the Future" is my favorite Mafia album (by the way, I have it on cassette...the original tape with cassette cover). Songs like "Oyeme", "Mis Locuras", "Soy Tuyo," "Quiero"...well, let's just say the WHOLE ALBUM is the best there is and the best there will ever be! I'll put that album up against anything that is "hot" in the Tejano music industry these days and I guarantee you that after 15 years since its release, it would blow everyone out of the water. The sound, vocals, and musicianship on this album are timeless and still sound fresh after all of these years. It's an album Oscar, Leonard, Mando, David, Michael, Adolfo, and Rick are very proud of, and damn it they should be! "ENTER THE FUTURE" is one of the greatest recordings in American music history!
Now, can someone tell me why I can still find old Vanilla Ice and CRAPPY Debbie Gibson cd's at the store, yet La Mafia's music is soooooo hard to find? I understand that there are legal issues behind the ownership of music catalogs, but those who do own this music need to start taking care of the music because those who own it are doing a shit job with La Mafia's music and I am tired and upset that one of the greatest bands ever keeps getting screwed somehow by having their music put on 'just another greatest hits' cd.
EMI or whoever the hell you are that owns La Mafia's music, my statement is simple: STOP SCREWING LA MAFIA AND THEIR FANS AROUND. I BELIEVE LA MAFIA AND ITS FANS DESERVE A GOOD PRODUCT. TAKE FOR EXAMPLE "CON TANTO AMOR"...I LOVE THE FACT THAT YOU'VE GONE THAT FAR INTO THE 90S MUSIC CATALAG, BUT YOU KEEP FORGETTING ABOUT "ENTER THE FUTURE". I BELIEVE I SPEAK FOR MILLIONS OF MAFIA FANS WHEN I SAY THIS SO PLEASE, GET THE F*!k OFF THE SAUCE AND START TAKING CARE OF LA MAFIA'S MUSIC. YOU SURE SEEM TO BE ENJOYING THE QUICK DOLLAR YOU MAKE OFF OF THEIR MUSIC, WHY NOT PUT OUT QUALITY AND NOT JUST QUANTITY. THIS BAND DESERVES TO HAVE THEIR MUSIC TAKEN CARE OF BY "REAL PROFESSIONALS" WHO UNDERSTAND THE PASSION BEHIND THIS MUSIC. FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU DO HAPPEN TO RE-RELEASE "ENTER THE FUTURE" SOMEDAY IN THIS LIFETIME, I HOPE YOU DON'T SCREW AROUND WITH THE ALBUM COVER AND DECIDE TO PUT SOME PHOTO FROM THE BAND'S EARLY 80'S ERA, LIKE YOU ALL DID WITH "CON TANTO AMOR"...THAT WAS BULLSHIT AND A DISREGARD TO MINOR DETAIL WHICH YOU FOLKS AT EMI HAVE NOOOO IDEA ABOUT. GET A CLUE AND DO YOUR RESEARCH NEXT TIME. THIS ALBUM, "CON TANTO AMOR", WAS THE FIRST ALBUM WHERE OSCAR WORE HIS NICE BLACK HAT AND THE BAND MEMBERS ON THIS ALBUM WERE MICHAEL AGUILAR, LEONARD GONZALEZ, OSCAR GONZALEZ, ADOLFO ALONSO, DAVID DE LA GARZA, AND ARMANDO LICHTENBERGER, JR. SEE, HOW HARD WAS THAT EMI? MAYBE YOU SHOULD GIVE THE JOB TO ME. I AM A TRUE FAN AND ONE WHO WOULD DO A MOST SUPERB JOB IN TAKING CARE OF THIS MUSIC. GRINGA, I APOLOGIZE FOR MY LANGUAGE BUT I AM SICK AND TIRED OF WATCHING THIS AMAZING AND LEGENDARY BAND GET SCREWED.
LONG LIVE LA MAFIA, PURE EXCELLENCE IN EXECUTION. EMI, YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK, LOSERS...
: :
: --dsg3--- i know what you are talking
: about, i love LM, but i don't trust just
: anybody with $100. I am sure the guys from
: the band would not be happy with someone
: charging $100 to get their old songs. I
: truly want the rights to the catalog to be
: bought by mando and the rest of the gange so
: we can experence the whole LM journey again.
: Let me know if you hear anything if someone
: is selling it for less. Ebay is just too
: much and i would however pay it if i knew i
: would not get ripped off!!
