Thanks Fred. I try to reflect after each meet, but it's just hard to kill some old habits and take my own advice sometimes. I don't lie in my workouts, but I definitely neglect to write down or fully recognize details of stupid stuff I do sometimes. I think last weekend's kick in the ass was finally a wake-up call that youth can only get me so far. |
: I think that's some good self reflection there

: Today's workout + lengthy analysis of where
: I'm at for those interested:
: Curl: 140x3, 130 2x6
: Bench: 240x3, 210 2x6
: Squat: 280x3, 245 2x6
: Pull ups 2x20
: Bodyweight: 151.0
: I'll be tinkering around/finalizing a plan
: over the next 4 weeks, go on vacation for 2,
: then put my plan in to action for 7 weeks
: leading up to the Ohio regional. Shoot for
: those missed 3rds probably, and see what
: numbers I get to start my NN training with.
: Improvements needed:
: No resting forever between sets. Don't sink
: the bar on bench halfway through workouts.
: Utilize less leaning on curls to hit my
: biceps better. NO REP MAXES at 90%+ unless I
: feel perfect. ONE weekly single @ 90-92% is
: seems ok on curl and bench to keep the feel
: of heavier weight. Maybe every 3-4 on DL.
: 4x2 and 3x3 between 84-87% my goal 1 rm on
: heavy days. Don't get too greedy with
: volume/intensity. Basically try to take the
: good from my NN and state training cycles,
: and leave the bad.
: As for the meet: probably peaked myself a
: week early by stuffing so much
: volume/intensity down my throat. Felt GREAT
: the final training week, but just didn't
: quite have enough on any lift. Also, I
: mentally unraveled early in the day. I've
: never been to a meet and failed to PR in the
: curl. Screwing up my favorite lift just
: wrecked my confidence, and shot down any
: chance of salvaging the meet from there out.
: In future meets, I need to emotionally
: detach myself from that lift once it's over,
: and focus on what I still need to do.
