Re: Bench Press and Curl

Thanks. I forget who said it, but I've heard one of the best things you can do is push beyond what's reasonable in training, then use that knowledge to dial it back and perfect future plans. Overall, I believe I over-reached, but left just enough in the tank to pull a good meet together. |
: The fact you are listening to your body and
: learning is a big key, especially for a
: young lifter. Congrats and good luck.

: Curl: up to 155x3! No dipping/knee
: Paused each rep a couple seconds at bottom.
: We'll see what the judges say about 165
: soon! 145x5 after.
: Bench (2 sec pauses)
: 260x2. Didn't feel comfortable trying 3rd.
: 255x3. Epic grind set, but got it. 127.5
: still possible I'd say.
: 295x4 (slingshot). Wore closer to my
: shoulders to remove elbow aid. Good set.
: Bench didn't go perfect, but whatever. Rep
: maxes are a dangerous mental block for me.
: After this meet, it'll be unstructured a
: bit, then I go on a 2 week vacation. After
: that, I plan to work back in to 4 week waves
: with lots of doubles in the mid 80%'s, and
: any 90%+ work will only singles. No more rep
: maxes over 80%. Not sure if I'll lift in a
: meet during the fall, or just wait for NN.
: My analysis of this last 10 weeks: think I
: finally found what's "too much" on
: the big lifts, but learned what I need to do
: to self-coach myself. Answer is somewhere
: between pre-NN this year and what I've done
: lately. Except my curl still responds to
: anything lol.
