Effective January 1st, 2010, I will be stepping down from the NASA Executive Committee, at least temporarily, while I pursue invitations to several Powerlifting Federations, including NASA, to join the Powerlifting Federations Standards Association(PFSA).
I will remain as a Regional Chairman, and as the National Benefits Chairman for NASA. So, I will still direct about a half dozen NASA Meets, and help with probably 6 to 12 other NASA Meets, in 2010.
It may be perceived as a Conflict of Interest, however, if I am pursuing the creation of the PFSA, while serving on NASA's Executive Committee.
The idea of the PFSA, was/is solely my idea. And I really am not interested in hearing the negative criticism of the naysayers who say it will never happen. I'll remind you that Arnold Schwarzenegger's dad told him that he was a failure, and wasting his time in lifting weights. Arnolds father chained the garage shut, so that Arnold couldn't lift in the garage anymore. So, Arnold started lifting the living room furniture, until his dad gave in and opened the garage again. The point is, some people will always want to throw cold water on an idea, no matter how good it is.
It will take the remainder of this year to produce a Draft Website, and Draft Standards for the PFSA. However, when I go forward with it, and formally invite several Powerlifting Federations to join, I don't want any Conflicts of Interest at that time.
This will also protect NASA from any further negative light in connection with the idea.
